If you’ve been waiting for Brad Pitt to headline another movie, your wait is almost over. Yeah, we know, he’s in ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, but that’s more of a co-starring role with Leonardo DiCaprio when it’s all said and done. Pitt will be headlining AD ASTRA, which comes from director James Gray (THE IMMIGRANT, THE LOST CITY OF Z), and the story involves an astronaut having to find out what happened to his father, who took a one-way trip to Neptune in an effort to communicate with extra terrestrial life. Oh, and the father is played by Tommy Lee Jones, though we’re guessing his screen time here will be minimal. This film has been in production for two full years, so it should be interesting to see the end result. The cast also features Ruth Negga, Donald Sutherland, Jamie Kennedy, John Finn, Kimberly Elise, Bobby Nish, LisaGay Hamilton, and John Ortiz. Take a look at a new preview clip that shows a rather exciting sequence set on the moon, in which pirates are attempting to thwart Pitt’s mission… tell us your thoughts in the comments.
Astronaut Roy McBride (Brad Pitt) travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet. His journey will uncover secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos.
