Speeding car chases, quick moving fight sequences, heavy-hitting machismo action heroes, beautiful women, and various espionage storylines is the proven formula for the FAST & FURIOUS series of movies. The franchise successfully manages to appeal to fans of action adventure providing just the right dose of thrills to keep them coming back for more. FAST & FURIOUS PRESENTS: HOBBS & SHAW steps on the gas kicking things into full throttle and keeps the dizzying pace of this spin off in high gear without a dull moment.

The story is simple. Hattie (Vanessa Kirby) is a rogue MI6 agent that is framed for the murder of her team and stealing a deadly virus meant to destroy the weakest among humanity. Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson), a member of the diplomatic community service and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), a former member of the British military, are recruited to capture Hattie and retrieve the virus before it falls into the hands of an underground organization on a mission to create super humans and wipe out anyone else. Turns out that Hobbs and Shaw are rivals and not too thrilled about working together and to complicate matters further, Hattie is Shaw’s sister. As the two “frenemies” squabble their way towards a plan to find Hattie, they come face to face with the villainous Brixton Lore (Idris Elba). Lore, thought to be dead, has been physically altered and turned into a cyborg being and seems indestructible. The Hobbs and Shaw team only have 72 hours to retrieve Hattie before the virus kills her and stay one step ahead of Lore so that he does not steal the virus and deliver it to the wrong side.

The charismatic Dwayne Johnson and slick Jason Statham are great together. Providing lots of laughs is the quick witty dialogue between the two lead male characters. There are also some surprise cameos in the movie and the actors most will not expect in the film display their comedic timing as well. Vanessa Kirby brings her feline style to her character and gets to show off some great fighting skills giving the term “girl power” some new meaning. Playing the villain, Idris Elba is a great addition to the cast with his smooth accent and regal masculine presence.

FAST & FURIOUS PRESENTS: HOBBS & SHAW, delivering on all fronts, is mixed with all the ingredients for the perfect recipe that moviegoers have come to expect. Filled with stunts that defy all logic, beautifully choreographed fight scenes, lots of humor, a bit of romance, and actors that work together like well-oiled machines this latest rendition is extremely satisfying. There is never slow down in this production and the fast pace of the storyline will keep audiences fully engaged. This over-the-top cheesy silly film is just nothing but a ton of fun and worth the time to strap in, sit still, and enjoy the ride.
