If you couldn’t get enough of Patrick Stewart as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION and the movies that followed, not to worry, because he’s back in the fan-favorite role. Stewart returns as Picard in the new CBS All Access series, which reconnects with him decades later as he mourns the loss of his friend and shipmate Data, and meets a mysterious girl with incredible skills who may end up being very important. There are shades of Joss Whedon’s FIREFLY and SERENITY here, but it looks interesting and rather grounded and realistic instead of the idyllic Science Fiction style of the series that introduced the character. We also get glimpses of some familiar faces, including Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine (from STAR TREK: VOYAGER), and the one and only Brent Spiner as Lt. Commander Data. Jonathan Frakes is directing a few episodes, and it’s rumored Marina Sirtis may have a cameo as well. The main cast includes Santiago Cabrera, Isa Briones, Michelle Hurd, Alison Pill, Harry Treadaway, and Rebecca Wisocky. While this isn’t what I expected, it does look intriguing. See if you don’t agree and tell us in the comments below.
