Harmony Korine, at one point, was anything but a mainstream filmmaker. Some of his early work would have had average moviegoers demanding their money back within minutes of theater lights going down. But thanks to SPRING BREAKERS, he’s now a name Millennials keep their eyes on. While I sort of got what that film was going for, I’m not I’d say I really liked it… but Korine’s work isn’t meant to be instantly accessible, which may be part of its charm. His newest effort is THE BEACH BUM, which stars Matthew McConaughey in a role many would say he was born to play – his character is Moondog, a stoner burnout writer who lives by his own rules, though it appears his wild ways are what give him inspiration and in some ways gain him respect, only most likely coming from the wrong people. It also stars Jonah Hill, Snoop Dog, Jimmy Buffett, Zac Efron, Martin Lawrence, and Isla Fisher. Check out the red band trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

BEACH BUM opens March 22, 2019
