When the new Warner Bros. GODZILLA hit theaters in 2014, it was met with mixed reviews. Some complained there wasn’t enough of the monster in it, others just sat back and enjoyed the ride. Then came KONG: SKULL ISLAND, which reinvented the legacy of King Kong utilizing a much bigger version of the monster ape. Now we’re getting a sequel to GODZILLA called GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS, which is intended to lead into a Godzilla versus King Kong movie. Directed by Michael Dougherty (TRICK ‘R TREAT and KRAMPUS), the film stars Millie Bobby Brown (the breakout young star of Netflix’s STRANGER THINGS), Bradley Whitford, Vera Farmiga, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, Charles Dance, Ziyi Zhang, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Thomas Middleditch and Ken Watanabe. We’re also going to get American-ized versions of some classic Godzilla guest stars Mothra, King Ghidorah and Rodan. This thing is still six months away, but the new trailer is pretty packed and should hold us over until then with a nice taste of what to expect. Check it out below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Following the global success of “Godzilla” and “Kong: Skull Island” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
