The original film adaptation of Stephen King’s PET SEMATARY is still pretty creepy, though probably dated for most at this point. In this day and age of reboots and remakes, this story is the latest to get an update. From the co-director team of Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer (STARRY EYES), this new version stars Jason Clarke, John Lithgow, Amy Seimetz, Alyssa Brooke Levine, Hugo Lavoie, Jeté Laurence, Obssa Ahmed, and Lucas Lavoie. The trailer does a good job of teasing the horror without showing too much, and the sound design definitely evokes a creepy vibe… plus I love me some John Lithgow, so I’d buy a ticket for him alone, even though I know things probably won’t end well for anyone here. Take a look at the first trailer and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Louis Creed, his wife Rachel and their two children Gage and Ellie move to a rural home where they are welcomed and enlightened about the eerie ‘Pet Sematary’ located near their home. After the tragedy of their cat being killed by a truck, Louis resorts to burying it in the mysterious pet cemetery, which is definitely not as it seems, as it proves to the Creeds that sometimes, dead is better.

PET SEMATARY opens April 5, 2019
