In the new movie LIFE ITSELF, which comes from writer/director Dan Fogelman (THIS IS US), Oscar Isaac and Olivia Wilde play a couple who begin dating and marry quickly, then learn the ups and downs of family life. The studio description calls it a multigenerational saga, and you can tell if you look closely in the trailer, there’s definitely some passage of time at play here. We’re also guessing some of the relationships shown in the trailer may in fact be the parents of these characters and not in the same timeline, which is not that dissimilar from what Fogelman did in THIS IS US. The supporting cast looks pretty great too, featuring Mandy Patinkin, Jean Smart, Olivia Cooke, Antonio Banderas, Annette Bening, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Laia Costa and Alex Monner. Take a look at the first trailer and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

As a young New York couple goes from college romance to marriage and the birth of their first child, the unexpected twists of their journey create reverberations that echo over continents and through lifetimes in Life Itself. Director and writer Dan Fogelman (“This Is Us”) examines the perils and rewards of everyday life in a multigenerational saga that celebrates the human condition and all of its complications with humor, poignancy and love.

LIFE ITSELF opens September 21, 2018
