Director Pierre Morel made Liam Neeson a beloved action star with TAKEN, and he might just do the same thing for Jennifer Garner with the new action thriller PEPPERMINT. You’ll need to watch the trailer below to understand the title, but it involves Garner’s character witnessing her husband and daughter get murdered by members of a drug cartel, only to survive and see them go free thanks to crooked judges and cops. So she disappears for five years in order to train herself to become a killing machine, and then returns for revenge. The supporting cast includes John Gallagher Jr., John Ortiz, Method Man, Richard Cabral, and Annie Ilonzeh. I’m actually quite excited for this, as I loved watching Garner kick butt on the JJ Abrams series ALIAS, and it’s been a while since we’ve seen her in an action role… I’m thinking DAREDEVIL was the last time? Check out the trailer and see if you aren’t excited, then tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Peppermint is an action thriller which tells the story of young mother Riley North (Garner) who awakens from a coma after her husband and daughter are killed in a brutal attack on the family. When the system frustratingly shields the murderers from justice, Riley sets out to transform herself from citizen to urban guerilla. Channeling her frustration into personal motivation, she spends years in hiding honing her mind, body and spirit to become an unstoppable force – eluding the underworld, the LAPD and the FBI – as she methodically delivers her personal brand of justice.

PEPPERMINT opens September 7, 2018
