I CAN ONLY IMAGINE video interview with Dennis Quaid on playing a monsterous father

I CAN ONLY IMAGINE opens this weekend in theaters, telling the true story of signer/songwriter Bart Millard and how he ended up writing his smash hit song. A big part of his influence was his abusive and alcoholic father, and the journey Bart made both in leaving home and returning to deal with his dad. Dennis Quaid plays that father, and turns in a phenomenal performance, and it’s not the easiest role to take on since his character had to go through so many extreme emotions. It’s also a key character in the story, as if not portrayed just right it could easily cheapen the production. Last month, Quaid stopped in Dallas to talk about the film with local press. The film was actually shot in Oklahoma, but that’s not far from us at all. I joined other DFW journalists for a roundtable session with Dennis, who spoke candidly about the project and his thoughts on the story. Check out the uncut interview below, and be sure to catch the film at a theater near you.
