Amazon Studios and STX Entertainment seem to be releasing some pretty great stuff into theaters, and the upcoming film GRINGO may be one of the most intriguing yet. It stars David Oyelowo, Charlize Theron, Joel Edgerton, Sharlto Copley, Amanda Seyfried, Yul Vazquez, Alan Ruck, Kenneth Choi and Thandie Newton. It’s directed by Joel’s brother Nash Edgerton, who is not only a masterful stuntman but has proven himself to be a talented director on both short films and narrative features… see THE SQUARE (2008) for proof. The tone of the GRINGO trailer is a little mixed, comedic moments peppered in what seems like some pretty deadly scenarios, but if you’ve seen Nash’s short films you’d know he’s got a pretty dark sense of humor. With such a stellar cast, this is definitely at the top of our must-see list for 2018.

An exhilarating mix of dark comedy, white-knuckle action and dramatic intrigue, Gringo joyrides into Mexico, where mild-mannered businessman Harold Soyinka (David Oyelowo) finds himself at the mercy of his back-stabbing business colleagues back home, local drug lords and a morally conflicted black-ops mercenary. Crossing the line from law-abiding citizen to wanted criminal, Harold battles to survive his increasingly dangerous situation in ways that raise the question: Is he out of his depth – or two steps ahead?

GRINGO opens March 9, 2018
