THE MAZE RUNNER movies started off really strong in 2014. Based on the Young Adult books by James Dashner and directed by Wes Ball, the first movie tripled its budget and effectively kickstarted a film franchise that would help put star Dylan O’Brien in the spotlight, and push him toward leading man status (he just recently headlined AMERICAN ASSASSIN). But the sequel, MAZE RUNNER: THE SCORCH TRIALS, came a little to quickly after (one year later), and didn’t perform nearly as strong as the first film. Perhaps THE DEATH CURE can help get things back on track. O’Brien returns in the lead role, joined by Kaya Scodelario, Walton Goggins, Nathalie Emmanuel, Katherine McNamara, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Rosa Salazar, Giancarlo Esposito, Patricia Clarkson, Barry Pepper, Ki Hong Lee and Jacob Lofland. Wes Ball has directed all three films, but it’s safe to say this franchise needs a big finish for 20th Century Fox to call it a win. SYNOPSIS
In the epic finale to the Maze Runner saga, Thomas leads his group of escaped Gladers on their final and most dangerous mission yet. To save their friends, they must break into the legendary Last City, a WCKD-controlled labyrinth that may turn out to be the deadliest maze of all. Anyone who makes it out alive will get answers to the questions the Gladers have been asking since they first arrived in the maze.

Born and raised in Dallas, Mark has been a movie critic since 1994, with reviews featured in print, radio and National TV. In 2001 he started the Entertainment section of the Herorealm website, where he contributed film reviews and celebrity interviews until 2004. In addition to Hollywood reporting, Mark has worked for many years as an advertising and sci-fi/comic book artist. Clients have included Lucasfilm Ltd., Topps Trading Cards, The Dallas Mavericks and The Dallas Stars. From 2002 until 2015 he managed the Dallas Comic Con, Sci-Fi Expo and Fan Days events in the DFW area. He currently catalogs rare comic books and movie memorabilia for Heritage Auctions, and runs the Dallas Comic Show conventions, but remains an avid moviegoer and cinema buff.
