Check out the new GHOST IN THE SHELL UK trailer starring Scarlett Johansson and actor Takeshi Kitano (who we get a brief look at here). The live action remake of the Anime classic is helmed by director Rupert Sanders, and has come under fire a bit with the casting of a white American (Johansson) in the lead. I’m not sure how to feel about it, as there’s certainly arguments to be made for Asian actors not getting a chance to play a role made famous by Asian filmmakers and creators, but the studio also knows this is going to cost a LOT of money, and they need to be able to sell it to American audiences. The new UK trailer is rather solid, and is finally feeling pretty close to the source material. We’ll see what the end result delivers next week, but tell us your thoughts in the comments.

The site also features a variety of rare celebrity and filmmaker interviews, and Bigfanboy.com regularly covers the film festival circuit as well. In addition to Hollywood reporting, Mark has worked for many years as an advertising and sci-fi/comic book artist. Clients have included Lucasfilm Ltd., Topps Trading Cards, The Dallas Mavericks and The Dallas Stars. From 2002 until 2015 he managed the Dallas Comic Con, Sci-Fi Expo and Fan Days events in the DFW area. He currently catalogs rare comic books and movie memorabilia for Heritage Auctions, and runs the Dallas Comic Show conventions, but remains an avid moviegoer and cinema buff.
