After the overwhelming success of THE DARK KNIGHT TRILOGY, director Christopher Nolan gave us the space epic INTERSTELLAR, but is returning with a different kind of movie in DUNKIRK. This war tale covers the evacuation of Allied soldiers during World War II in Dunkirk, France. A rather harrowing story, this may not be Nolan’s most marketable movie, but it feels like an admirable effort and an important part of history. The movie stars Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh, James D’Arcy, Harry Styles, Kevin Guthrie, Aneurin Barnard, Jack Lowden, Elliott Tittensor, and Barry Keoghan. Take a look at the first trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Miraculous evacuation of Allied soldiers from Belgium, Britain and France, who were cut off and surrounded by the German army from the beaches and harbor of Dunkirk, France, between May 27- June 04, 1940, during Battle of France in World War II.

DUNKIRK opens in theaters July 21, 2017
