One of the big films making a splash at this year’s New York Comic-Con was Lionsgate and Saban’s POWER RANGERS, and thanks to the presence there we’re now treated to our first teaser trailer. If you’re hoping to see the characters in costume and in the middle of a fight, you’ll have to wait a little longer as this teaser doesn’t quite get there. But we do get an idea of the tone of the film and the actors in character. There’s definitely a sort of BREAKFAST CLUB meets CHRONICLE vibe here, which might prove to be a smart move. While I was never a hardcore fan of the original show, I do understand the appeal. The cast includes Dacre Montgomery (as the Red Ranger), RJ Cyler (as the Blue Ranger), Naomi Scott (as the Pink Ranger), Becky G (as the Yellow Ranger) and Ludi Lin (as the Black Ranger). Bryan Cranston also stars as Zordon, Bill Hader voices Alpha 5, and we get a brief look at Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa here. The movie is directed by Dean Israelite and opens March of next year. Check out the trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.

POWER RANGERS hits theaters on March 24, 2017
