SPLICE is definitely a film that horror fans should have on their radar. After making a big impression at Sundance this year, director Vincenzo Natali’s movie about gene-splicing got the attention of some major Hollywood power players, and now the whole world will get to see what everyone was so excited about. The movie stars Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley as scientists who create a life form that is a mix between human and animal, and as is often the case with these things, completely out of their control. Joel Silver, Dark Castle Pictures, and Warner Brothers had enough faith to give this film a proper theatrical release, with (reportedly) a few minor edits here and there. Check out the newest trailer below. We’ve certainly seen this type of film before, but from what I’ve seen this take looks effectively creepy and fascinating. Born and raised in Dallas, Mark has been a movie critic since 1994, with reviews featured in print, radio and National TV. In 2001 he started the Entertainment section of the Herorealm website, where he contributed film reviews and celebrity interviews until 2004. In addition to Hollywood reporting, Mark has worked for many years as an advertising and sci-fi/comic book artist. Clients have included Lucasfilm Ltd., Topps Trading Cards, The Dallas Mavericks and The Dallas Stars. From 2002 until 2015 he managed the Dallas Comic Con, Sci-Fi Expo and Fan Days events in the DFW area. He currently catalogs rare comic books and movie memorabilia for Heritage Auctions, and runs the Dallas Comic Show conventions, but remains an avid moviegoer and cinema buff.
