When was the last time you saw a movie trailer that just looks like a whole lot of friendly fun? After watching the preview for MONSTER TRUCKS, I’m reminded of wildly imaginative adventure fare from my childhood, the kind of stuff we just don’t seem to get at the box office anymore. And the premise, while ridiculous, also feels kind of fresh and unexpected. Directed by Chris Wedge, this truck racing romp start Lucas Till (X-MEN movies), Jane Levy (EVIL DEAD reboot), Holt McCallany, Barry Pepper, Tucker Albrizzi, Danny Glover, Amy Ryan, Rob Lowe, Frank Whaley, and Thomas Lennon. The car stunt team is apparently made up of the same guys who handled FURIOUS 7, so that might explain some of the over-the-top craziness on display in the trailer. Tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Looking for any way to get away from the life and town he was born into, Tripp (Lucas Till), a high school senior, builds a Monster Truck from bits and pieces of scrapped cars. After an accident at a nearby oil-drilling site displaces a strange and subterranean creature with a taste and a talent for speed, Tripp may have just found the key to getting out of town and a most unlikely friend. Melding cutting edge visual effects and state-of-the-art CGI, Monster Trucks is an action filled adventure for the whole family that will keep you on the edge of your seat and ultimately touch your heart.

MONSTER TRUCKS opens January 13, 2017
