Alden Ehrenreich officially cast as the Young Han Solo for the STAR WARS franchise

A relatively new face in Hollywood, Alden Ehrenreich easily had some of the best scenes in The Coen Brothers’ HAIL, CAESAR! this year, and was one of the (reportedly) thousands of actors tested to play a young version of Han Solo in the Phil Lord and Chris Miller spinoff film for the STAR WARS franchise, written by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan. Now it’s official, Ehrenreich has won the role, and will star in the film that is currently scheduled for a May 25, 2018 release. He’s appeared in films like Park Chan Wook’s STOKER and the young adult adaptation BEAUTIFUL CREATURES, but HAIL, CAESAR! is the film most people know him for currently, and it’s safe to say he’s one of the standout performances in that production. Taking on the iconic hero role made famous by Harrison Ford won’t be an easy task, and there are some obvious difference between the two actors. Ehrenreich is 5’8 with black hair, Ford is 6’1 with brown hair. Their voices are quite different as well. Some fans are already criticizing the choice, pointing out other potential candidates like Anthony Ingruber (who definitely looks more like Ford, but lacks the acting experience). There’s also rumors floating about that we may see Alden as Han Solo in a cameo during ROGUE ONE later this year, but considering the casting just now happening this seems somewhat unlikely. What do you think of this choice? Does Alden Ehrenreich seem like a good choice for such an important and iconic character? Tell us your thoughts in the comments.
