Even as Marvel Studios is about to release another big “team” adventure movie in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, they’re not slowing down on the solo story front, prepping their next big release DOCTOR STRANGE. Benedict Cumberbatch stars in the lead role with Scott Derrickson (SINISTER) as director. This is definitely one of the more weird Marvel Comics characters, and the trailer (which premiered last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live) doesn’t shy away from the unusual aspects of that story. Looks great to us, though I wonder if most of what we’ll see is Strange training to use his powers, rather that actually fighting evil as “Doctor Strange” in full costume. The supporting cast is quite impressive – a bald Tilda Swinton stars as the Ancient One, Chiwetel Ejiofor plays Mordo, and Michael Stuhlbarg, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Scott Adkins, Amy Landecker, and Mads Mikkelsen also star. Take a look a the first trailer and see what you think.

“Doctor Strange” follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.

“Doctor Strange” is the latest film in Phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Phase 3’s goal—over the course of four years and nine films—is to introduce audiences to new heroes and continue the adventures of fan favorites.

DOCTOR STRANGE opens November 4, 2016
