Shane Black is perhaps still known more for his writing credits than being a director, but the two previous films he was behind the camera for are solid entries. KISS KISS BANG BANG was an underrated masterpiece that became a cult classic, and IRON MAN 3 was a huge success for Marvel. Black returns to the director chair for THE NICE GUYS, which stars Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling in a 1977 crime setting. Shane Black is famous for his 1980s fare, and even gave that flare to IRON MAN 3, but it should be interesting to see how he handles a story in the 70s. The new trailer, which you can check out below, looks pretty fun. The cast also includes Kim Basinger, Matt Bomer, Rachele Brooke Smith, Margaret Qualley, Ty Simpkins, Yaya DaCosta, and Keith David. “The Nice Guys” takes place in 1970s Los Angeles, when down-on-his-luck private eye Holland March (Gosling) and hired enforcer Jackson Healy (Crowe) must work together to solve the case of a missing girl and the seemingly unrelated death of a porn star. During their investigation, they uncover a shocking conspiracy that reaches up to the highest circles of power.

THE NICE GUYS opens May 20, 2016
