We first told you about the new BEN-HUR film a little over a year ago, which was headed up by director Timur Bekmambetov (WANTED). Today we get a trailer, which features Jack Huston in the lead playing Judah Ben-Hur. Morgan Freeman as the man who helps him train for the battle against his adopted brother Messala, played by Toby Kebbell (who recently played Victor Von Doom in the failed FANTASTIC FOUR reboot). And yes, there’s going to be spectacularly brutal chariot races. The supporting cast includes Nazanin Boniadi, Pilou Asbaek, Rodrigo Santoro, Haluk Bilginer, Marwan Kenzari, Moises Arias, Yasen Atour, David Walmsley and Ayelet Zurer. This version is based on the original book by Lew Wallace, not the 1959 movie with the same name, though it’s obvious there’s certain visual similarities. Tell us what you think of the trailer in the comments.

BEN-HUR is the epic story of Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), a prince falsely accused of treason by his adopted brother Messala (Toby Kebbell), an officer in the Roman army. Stripped of his title, separated from his family and the woman he loves (Nazanin Boniadi), Judah is forced into slavery. After years at sea, Judah returns to his homeland to seek revenge, but finds redemption. Based on Lew Wallace’s timeless novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ. Also starring Morgan Freeman and Rodrigo Santoro.

BEN HUR opens August 12, 2016
