THE BIG SHORT interview with John Magaro on working with Adam McKay, Brad Pitt & more

One of the more interesting films to hit theaters this month is THE BIG SHORT, based on the book by Michael Lewis (MONEYBALL) and directed by Adam McKay (ANCHORMAN). It centers the global economic collapse that happened about a decade ago, where banks played with big money and many lost their homes and in some cases their lives. It was a dark period for this country, but it’s also a good bet that many don’t really know what exactly happened. The movie does a good job of illustrating the inner workings of this debacle, and even explains it in terms most people would understand. The impressive cast includes big names like Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, Melissa Leo, Marisa Tomei, and Karen Gillan… but one of the key characters, Charlie Geller, is played by up-and-coming actor John Magaro. He’s appeared in movies like NOT FADE AWAY and popular TV shows like ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK. In THE BIG SHORT, he and Finn Whitrock share most of their scenes with none other than Brad Pitt, who also served as producer for this film. And Magaro will soon be seen with Pitt again in WAR MACHINE. I had a chance to sit down with John during his recent Dallas press stop, and you can watch that interview below. Look for THE BIG SHORT in theaters this Christmas.

When four outsiders saw what the big banks, media and government refused to, the global collapse of the economy, they had an idea: The Big Short. Their bold investment leads them into the dark underbelly of modern banking where they must question everyone and everything. Based on the true story and best-selling book by Michael Lewis (The Blind Side, Moneyball), and directed by Adam Mckay (Anchorman, Step Brothers) The Big Short stars Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt.

THE BIG SHORT opens December 11 in limited release, wide release on December 23, 2015
