The first teaser trailer for STAR TREK BEYOND is here, and I’m not quite sure what to make of it. It’s definitely a departure from the look and feel of the first two films, but also seems like they may be trying to capture some of the music-infused kinetic style of something like GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. The Beastie Boys song “Sabotage” blasts over the action (a nod to the first film), which is much more intense-looking than normal, perhaps thanks to director Justin Lin (FAST & FURIOUS films) taking over. Chris Pine is back as Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, Simon Pegg as Scotty, John Cho as Sulu, and Karl Urban as Bones. Added to the mix are Sofia Boutella and Idris Elba in heavy makeup. Check out the first teaser below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

From 2002 until 2015 he managed the Dallas Comic Con, Sci-Fi Expo and Fan Days events in the DFW area. He currently catalogs rare comic books and movie memorabilia for Heritage Auctions, and runs the Dallas Comic Show conventions, but remains an avid moviegoer and cinema buff.
