THE 5TH WAVE trailer – Chloë Grace Moretz takes on the Young Adult adaptation craze

5thWave-header

With TWILIGHT over, THE HUNGER GAMES coming to an end, and THE DIVERGENT SERIES getting close to wrapping up as well, folks may be looking for the next big Young Adult film franchise. Chloë Grace Moretz may be the newest star to take the lead in the latest attempt at grabbing that audience. THE 5TH WAVE is based on Rick Yancey’s book in which Cassie (Moretz) must try to survive after aliens have taken control of the world. The supporting cast includes Ron Livingston and Maggie Siff as her parents, Alex Roe and Nick Robinson are the inevitable love triangle boys for our lead, and Liev Schreiber, Maika Monroe and Maria Bello. The foreign subtitled trailer has hit the web, which you can see below. As much as I love Moretz, this teaser feels somewhat generic, like it’s just going through the motions of Young Adult film fare. Maybe the more we see the more impressed we’ll be. Tell us your thoughts in the comments.

In The 5th Wave, set in the present day, four waves of increasingly deadly attacks have left most of Earth decimated. Against a backdrop of fear and distrust, 16-year-old Cassie is on the run, desperately trying to save her younger brother. As she prepares for the inevitable and lethal 5th wave, Cassie meets a young man who may become her final hope.

THE 5TH WAVE opens January 15, 2016
