We’ve all seen those movies where a spy is “awaken” to discover their deadly abilities, and must stay alive long enough to fight the bad guys and figure out who made them that way in the first place. It’s a proven formula that works for action movies and thrillers. But make it into a stoner comedy, and now you’ve got a fun twist. Jesse Eisenberg plays a pothead guy at a convenience store who is activated by another agent, played by the lovely Connie Britton. His girlfriend, played by Kristen Stewart, is just as surprised to see he has deadly skills as he is. AMERICAN ULTRA is directed by Nima Nourizadeh (PROJECT X) and written by Max Landis (CHRONICLE), and also stars Topher Grace, Tony Hale, John Leguizamo, Bill Pullman and Walton Goggins. Take a look at the new trailer below and newest poster above. This is also a reteaming of sorts for Eisenberg and Stewart, who previously worked together on ADVENTURELAND. American Ultra is a fast-paced action comedy about Mike (Eisenberg), a seemingly hapless and unmotivated stoner whose small-town life with his live-in girlfriend, Phoebe (Stewart), is suddenly turned upside down. Unbeknownst to him, Mike is actually a highly trained, lethal sleeper agent. In the blink of an eye, as his secret past comes back to haunt him, Mike is thrust into the middle of a deadly government operation and is forced to summon his inner action-hero in order to survive.

AMERICAN ULTRA opens August 21, 2015
