See exactly what Jared Leto will look like as The Joker in David Ayer’s SUICIDE SQUAD

David Ayer’s SUICIDE SQUAD has quickly become a comic book film a lot of people have on their radar for next year, adapting the DC Comics titles that puts supervillains in the spotlight. One of the reasons folks are getting excited is Ayer and the cast building hype on social media, posting Twitter images and talking it up in interviews. One of the most anticipated character concepts for the fans is seeing what Jared Leto will look like as The Joker… and now Ayer has revealed just that. See his Tweet below, and scroll down for a enlargeable look of the image. Trying to update The Joker isn’t an easy task, as Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger both brought such iconic performances to the role in their respective Batman movie appearances. But this is an interesting take, utitlizing tattoos and some pretty messed up teeth. Leto’s Joker will appear alongside Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Cara Delevingne, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Jay Hernandez, Viola Davis, Adam Beach, Jim Parrack and Ike Barinholtz. Of course the real thrill will be seeing all of these folks in costume, which may still be a way off.

Outside of the cast, there’s still a lot of mystery surrounding the movie. Some rumors indicate it could be set during the same time period as BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE, which opens in March of 2016. With Batman in that film and The Joker in this one, it might make sense to have at least some layer of crossover with the two projects, but both films are pretty full of characters as it is. Previously Warner Bros. president Greg Silverman was quoted to say “The Warner Bros. roots are deep on this one. We look forward to seeing this terrific ensemble, under David Ayer’s amazing guidance, give new meaning to what it means to be a villain and what it means to be a hero.” Are you looking forward to SUICIDE SQUAD?
