One thing Joss Whedon knows how to do rather well is make female characters effectively look tough on screen. He’s proven this time and time again with shows like BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, DOLLHOUSE and of course FIREFLY. In the first AVENGERS movie he gave us some fun scenes with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) kicking butt, but it still felt like she paled a bit in comparison to the other heroes. From the looks of this new trailer, which has a lot of new Black Widow scenes, Joss may finally be delivering the mega-tough side of the character we’ve been waiting for. Something else this trailer emphasizes is the “team” aspect, each hero helping the other in little ways here and there. Let’s face it, we’ve hit a point with these movies where the outcome is always inevitable, so it’s more about the journey to get there. If this new look is any indication of what we have to expect from AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, May 1st can’t come soon enough. Take a look for yourself and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON is directed by Joss Whedon and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L.
