Movies about stalkers are certainly nothing new, but if done right they can be an effective way to kill a couple of hours at your local theater. The newest film to take on this theme is THE GIFT, starring Jason Bateman, Rebecca Hall and Joel Edgerton – also directed by Edgerton. This time the story follows a couple who meet up with the husband’s old high school acquaintance, one he only sort of remembers. The couple becomes friends with the man, who always seems to come bearing gifts, some that are quite expensive. But let’s not forget what kind of movie we’re talking about. This old acquaintance soon becomes a creepy and unwanted distraction, and things take a turn for the worse. This comes from Blumhouse, who typically give us horror and ghost stories, but it seems like they’re trying to branch out lately. Take a look at the first trailer, which looks pretty slick, and tell us your thoughts in the comments.
