With all the big movies hitting this year, some may have forgot we’ve got a new MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE film coming out this summer. Thankfully a new “teaser” for the first trailer has hit today, and unlike most of these teasers for a full trailer, this one actually has a lot of meat to it. MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – ROGUE NATION explores the idea of a team assigned to take out the good guys, a sort of anti-hero team. Tom Cruise is back, as is Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames and Jeremy Renner, joined by Alec Baldwin, Rebecca Ferguson, Sean Harris, Simon McBurney and Jingchu Zhang. Christopher McQuarrie (JACK REACHER) takes the director chair, J.J. Abrams is producing with a screenplay by Drew Pearce (IRON MAN 3). You know what I love about this trailer? The lack of obvious CGI. Instead we get a lot of real (and likely very dangerous) stunts… yes, that really is Tom Cruise hanging on a plane. The full trailer is coming tomorrow, but for now get a solid taste of what we’re in for this summer. Looks like exciting stuff!

The new flick finds Hunt’s highly effective but destructive Impossible Mission Force (IMF) disbanded by vengeful Washington bureaucrats such as the CIA chief (played by Alec Baldwin). But Hunt pulls his team together (Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames and newcomer Rebecca Ferguson) to battle the shadowy force known as “The Syndicate” and its elusive leader (Sean Harris).

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – ROGUE NATION opens July 31, 2015
