With the current popularity of ghost story movies like INSIDIOUS and THE CONJURING, it’s only natural a classic like POLTERGEIST would be targeted for a remake. The 1982 film from Tobe Hooper and Steven Spielberg remains a favorite for many, so the bar is definitely set high. But let’s face it, there’s a whole generation of people who have probably never seen it. The new version (which will of course be in 3D) is directed by Gil Kenan (MONSTER HOUSE) and produced by Sam Raimi (EVIL DEAD). The cast includes Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, Jared Harris, Nicholas Braun, Jane Adams, Saxon Sharbino, Kennedi Clements and Kyle Catlett. Check out the first trailer and poster, which seem to do a good job capturing the spirit (no pun intended) of the original. Tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Legendary filmmaker Sam Raimi (“Spiderman,” “Evil Dead”, “The Grudge”) and director Gil Kenan (“Monster House”) contemporize the classic tale about a family whose suburban home is haunted by evil forces. When the terrifying apparitions escalate their attacks and hold the youngest daughter captive, the family must come together to rescue her before she disappears forever.

POLTERGEIST opens July 24, 2015
