A lot of people have been wondering what to expect from Netflix’s DAREDEVIL series, based on the popular Marvel Comics character. Now we have an idea, thanks to IGN premiering the trailer, which you can see below. One thing is for sure, it looks dark! Charlie Cox plays Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer who has enhanced senses, and decides to fight crime in Hell’s Kitchen. The show’s cast also features Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin. The showrunner and executive producer for the series is Steven S. DeKnight, who previously worked on SPARTACUS and BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER. Drew Goddard is also executive producing and scripted the first two episodes of the series with Marvel Comics writer Jeph Loeb. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of this superhero series is that fans will be able to watch all 13 episodes at once if they like, beginning Friday, April 10 at Midnight, Pacific time – Netflix has had great success using that same formula with HOUSE OF CARDS. This is also just the beginning of the Marvel/Netflix dynasty, as four more series are on the way. AKA JESSICA JONES starring Krysten Ritter is next, followed by LUKE CAGE starring Mike Colter, and then IRON FIST (still not cast). The plan is for all of the characters to unite for THE DEFENDERS, a sort of AVENGERS-like team up. Take a look at the first DAREDEVIL trailer below and see what you think. Many have griped about the simple black costume, but we have a feeling the red costume is eventually coming.
“Marvel’s Daredevil” follows the journey of Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, now fighting against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell’s Kitchen, New York City.
