JOHN WICK red carpet interviews – Keanu Reeves, Adrianne Palicki and directors Chad Stahelski & David Leitch at Fantastic Fest 2014

JOHN WICK opens this weekend at theaters everywhere, delivering a good old-fashioned genre to big screens in a way that works quite well. The “revenge” flick is by no means anything new, but when it’s done well it can be a fun time at the theater. It’s also a return to form for Keanu Reeves, who has already proven himself quite capable of being an action star, but since THE MATRIX trilogy hasn’t had many big films wowing audiences. When we first posted the trailer to JOHN WICK I was immediately reminded of classic revenge tales like POINT BLANK and DEATH WISH, with (of course) the action ramped up to an 11. The movie premiered at this year’s Fantastic Fest in Austin, TX. Now with films like this, you just never know quite what to expect. What was most surprising is how the overwhelming response was extremely positive, even from some of the toughest critics on site. Co-directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch really seemed to get the concept of what they were doing, and Keanu nails the lead role with perfection. Everyone in the movie seems to be having fun with what they’re doing, and the end result excels for it. I had a chance to talk to Chad Stahelski and David Leitch, the lovely Adrianne Palicki, and of course Keanu Reeves on the red carpet before the film began, and you can watch those interview clips below. My only wish was that I had seen the movie before we chatted, so I could have told them just how great of a job they did. In the next day or so look for my post-screening interviews with Palicki and Reeves as well, where I do let them know just how much I enjoyed the film.

JOHN WICK is now playing everywhere
