I wouldn’t say that Pixar has had a few of misfires but their last few films, CARS 2, BRAVE and MONSTER’S UNIVERSITY were not as widely loved as their previous efforts. For a studio that could do no wrong, to hear any sort of negativity with any of their films COULD counts as a misstep. I think, at the very least, we can all agree that those films did not meet the extremely high bar that they had set for themselves on their previous outings. It is quite possible that their next film, INSIDE OUT, will bring them back to their former glory.
Pixar has released the first trailer for their next major motion (eMotion?) picture which is slated to hit theaters next year. Two thirds of this teaser pulls together footage from all of their previous films to remind us of the different range of emotions we have been exposed to while watching their library of offerings. Everything from joy to anger to fear and sadness to, yes, even disgust. It then poses a very simple question. “Ever wonder where all those emotions really live?”
In the teaser, we are briefly introduced to JOY (Amy Poehler), SADNESS (Phyllis Smith), ANGER (Lewis Black), DISGUST (Mindy Kaling) and FEAR (Bill Hader) which are living embodiments of emotions. This particular group appear to be living in the head of a little girl named Reilly (Kaitlyn Dias). This is a true teaser in the sense that practically nothing is shown of the plot, but I feel it did a good of making me want to see more. How about you? Are you excited to see INSIDE OUT? Do you think this could be a return to form for Pixar?

INSIDE OUT is directed by Pete Doctor and stars Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Mindy Kaling, Lewis Black, Phyllis Smith and Kaitlyn Dias.
SYNOPSIS: From an adventurous balloon ride above the clouds to a monster-filled metropolis, Academy Award®-winning director Pete Docter (“Monsters, Inc.,” “Up”) has taken audiences to unique and imaginative places. In Disney•Pixar’s original movie “ Inside Out,” he will take us to the most extraordinary location of all—inside the mind.
Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.
INSIDE OUT is set to hit regular and 3D theaters on June 19, 2015.
