It’s hard to believe that Michael Mann hasn’t directed a film since 2009 (which was PUBLIC ENEMIES by the way), but his return to the director chair looks rather interesting for sure. Set in the world of cyber hackers and hi-tech terrorism, BLACKHAT follows Chris Hemsworth as a hacker who is asked to track down some cyber terrorists with the help of a team. And of course the threat is bigger and badder than anyone ever imagined. The trailer below gives us a taste of what to expect, though I’m guessing this one is pretty layered and complex, perhaps more than a simple trailer can really communicate. That said, I love Mann and have tremendous faith in his films, and this looks slick enough to be worth a look. The supporting cast includes Viola Davis, Holt McCallany, William Mapother, Wei Tang and Leehom Wang. Take a look at the trailer and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Directed and produced by Michael Mann, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Viola Davis, Tang Wei and Wang Leehom, and it is written by Morgan Davis Foehl and Mann. Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni produce alongside Mann, while Alex Garcia and Eric McLeod serve as the executive producers.
