If you’ve been wondering what Tate Taylor has been up to since directing THE HELP, you’re about to find out. The new movie GET ON UP features 42 star Chadwick Boseman as the legendary music icon James Brown aka The Godfather of Soul. We told you in August of last year about Boseman nabbing the role, and that The Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger was to co-produce with Brian Grazer for Universal, plus we’ve already seen a teaser trailer for the film. Now we get a second look. With successful music icon biopics like RAY (in which Jamie Foxx won an Oscar for playing Ray Charles) and WALK THE LINE (in which Joaquin Phoenix played Johnny Cash), it seems like a natural decision to bring James Brown’s story to the big screen, and the newest trailer (below) is (like the first) pretty great. Boseman is joined in the drama by Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Nelsan Ellis, Lennie James, Tika Sumpter, Jill Scott, Craig Robinson and Dan Aykroyd.

In his follow-up to the four-time Academy Award®-nominated blockbuster The Help, Tate Taylor directs 42’s Chadwick Boseman as James Brown in Get on Up.  Based on the incredible life story of the Godfather of Soul, the film will give a fearless look inside the music, moves and moods of Brown, taking audiences on the journey from his impoverished childhood to his evolution into one of the most influential figures of the 20thcentury.  Boseman is joined in the drama by Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer, Nelsan Ellis, Lennie James, Tika Sumpter, Jill Scott and Dan Aykroyd.

Academy Award® winner Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind8 Mile) produces for Imagine Entertainment, with Mick Jagger and Victoria Pearman (Shine a Light) producing under their Jagged Films banner.  Imagine’s Erica Huggins (Flightplan) also serves as a producer on Get on Up, while Taylor produces under his Wyolah Films label.  Peter Afterman, Trish Hofmann, Jez Butterworth, John Butterworth, John Norris and Anna Culp serve as executive producers.
