THE EQUALIZER trailer – Denzel Washington protects Chloe Moretz in a matter of seconds

Antoine Fuqua and Denzel Washington became a collaborative force to be reckoned with in 2001 with TRAINING DAY, even earning Washington an Academy Award for his role in the film. It’s a little surprising that while both men have worked steadily since then, they’ve yet to work together again. THE EQUALIZER, loosely based on the popular television show of the same name, is their first project together since 2001. From the looks of the first trailer, the film is going to be pretty dark, but I love the bit with the seconds and his watch. Aside from Washington the film also features Chloë Grace Moretz, Melissa Leo, Martin Csokas, Haley Bennett and Bill Pullman. Take a look at the first teaser trailer and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

In The Equalizer, Denzel Washington plays McCall, a former black ops commando who has faked his death to live a quiet life in Boston. When he comes out of his self-imposed retirement to rescue a young girl, Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), he finds himself face to face with ultra-violent Russian gangsters. As he serves vengeance against those who brutalize the helpless, McCall’s desire for justice is reawakened. If someone has a problem, the odds are stacked against them, and they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer.

THE EQUALIZER opens September 26, 2014
