This is a new feature we’ll be running each week, highlighting an independent film project that’s either coming out, or in need of assistance. It is my pleasure to kick off our Indie Spotlight focusing on Philipp Karner’s LIKE YOU MEAN IT.
I had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with Philipp Karner last year at the Dallas International Film Festival where he premiered his movie DIVING NORMAL along with co-star and writing partner Scotty Crowe. That film was an unexpected gem, exploring the relationship of two unlikely friends who become divided by a woman they both obsess over. It was expertly acted and executed, and made a big impression on everyone who saw it – myself included. Philipp has now written and directed a new film called LIKE YOU MEAN IT, which explores the attempted revival of a gay couple’s relationship. The project is done, but they need some money to cover finishing costs, and have set up an IndieGogo page filled with incentives. Check out their video about the project below, and please share with friends who may be interested. Outside of Karner, the film features Denver Milord, Gillian Shure, Hilary Ward, Andrew Dits, Claudia Graf, and Adrian Quinonez. Philipp is one of those guys you want to keep an eye on in this business, and it doesn’t hurt that he’s very humble and nice in person. We wish him all the best.
Like You Mean It is an intimate film about one gay couple’s journey as they attempt to revive their relationship. When Mark and Jonah’s best friends break up and Mark’s father passes away, cracks begin to show between the two. While Jonah’s feelings for Mark continue to grow stronger, Mark isn’t sure how he feels anymore. Nevertheless, they are determined to get back on track and save their relationship.
