The opening night film at this year’s South by Southwest Film Festival was Jon Favreau’s CHEF. We posted a review shortly after it premiered, but today we finally get the first official trailer for the film.  This is one of those films you’ll not want to see on an empty stomach, but the cast alone makes it worth a look. Favs clearly called in a bunch of favors here, turning what could have been a smaller project into what appears to be a big-looking bit of cinema. The film stars Jon Favreau, Sofia Vergara, John Leguizamo, Bobby Cannavale, Dustin Hoffman, Oliver Platt, Emjay Anthony, Scarlett Johansson, and Robert Downey, Jr. (what a cast!). Check out the poster above and trailer below, and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

When Chef Carl Casper (Jon Favreau) suddenly quits his job at a prominent Los Angeles restaurant after refusing to compromise his creative integrity for its controlling owner (Dustin Hoffman), he is left to figure out what’s next. Finding himself in Miami, he teams up with his ex-wife (Sofia Vergara), his friend (John Leguizamo) and his son to launch a food truck. Taking to the road, Chef Carl goes back to his roots to reignite his passion for the kitchen—and zest for life and love.

CHEF opens May 9, 2014
