James McAvoy is one of those actors I assumed would be a bigger name by now than he seems to be. His film choices are interesting, and he can jump back and forth from small budget indie flicks to major studio productions like WANTED, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS and the upcoming X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. If you missed TRANCE, his outing with Danny Boyle, it’s a frenetic treat to behold. Up next he’ll be appearing in perhaps his most daring role to date, playing a whacked-out offensive policeman in FILTH. I’m not sure how to properly describe it, so it’s probably best to watch the trailer and see if you’re prepared for it… the new red band trailer below is definitely not safe for work. Directed by Jon S. Baird and written by Irvine Welsh, FILTH star James McAvoy, Jamie Bell, Eddie Marsan, Jim Broadbent and Imogen Poots. Tell us your thoughts in the comments.
Detective Sergeant Bruce Robertson wants a promotion. He is clearly the best man for the job – the rest of his colleagues are just idiots.
Annoyingly, there’s been a murder and Bruce’s boss wants results. No problem for Bruce. He’s in control and when he solves the case and wins the promotion, his wife will return to him. No problem.
But is life that simple? Is Bruce the man he really thinks he is? The tragic, hilarious and memorable answers unfold in FILTH…
Magnet Releasing will release FILTH on iTunes/On Demand April 24, 2014 and in theaters May 30, 2014
