Now that TWILIGHT is gone from the cinemas, seems like every studio out there is trying to find their big box office franchise for the “young adult” market. Lionsgate has THE HUNGER GAMES, and Summit is counting on DIVERGENT to rake in the dough. 20th Century Fox is placing their bets on THE MAZE RUNNER, which is based on the book by James Dashner and directed by Wes Ball. Following a young man named Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) who wakes up in a giant maze, the story feels like “The Lord of the Flies” meets THE HUNGER GAMES. Check out the first poster (above) and the first teaser trailer below. Aside from Dylan O’Brien, the movie also stars Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Will Poulter, Aml Ameen, and Ki Hong Lee. Tell us your thoughts in the comments.

When Thomas (Dylan O’Brien) wakes up trapped in a massive maze with a group of other boys, he has no memory of the outside world other than strange dreams about a mysterious organization known as W.C.K.D. Only by piecing together fragments of his past with clues he discovers in the maze can Thomas hope to uncover his true purpose and a way to escape. Based on the best-selling novel by James Dashner.

THE MAZE RUNNER opens September 19, 2014
