If you missed it, we posted a trailer and poster for a new Kevin Costner film 3 DAYS TO KILL exactly one week ago. But as we mentioned then the seasoned actor has five films scheduled for 2014, and the next one up is DRAFT DAY. Directed by Ivan Reitman (GHOSTBUSTERS), the film follows a Cleveland NFL general manager (Costner) who finds himself under enormous pressure when his job is on the line. Can he make the perfect picks? It co-stars Jennifer Garner, Denis Leary, Tom Welling, Terry Crews, Sam Elliott, Ellen Burstyn, Rosanna Arquette, Christopher Cousins, David Ramsey, Chadwick Boseman, Chi McBride and Frank Langella. You can see the poster above and teaser trailer below. While the cast is solid and the talent involved is pretty great, the trailer looks a bit harried, throwing together a bunch of intense talky scenes without really feeling engaging. I hope this is just a case of a thrown-together first trailer, and hopefully not indicative of the end result. That said, I have immense faith in Ivan Reitman as a director, and this is his first project with Costner. Hopefully the end result is a winner, but we won’t find out until April next year. Tell us your thoughts in the comments.

On the day of the NFL Draft, general manager Sonny Weaver (Costner) has the opportunity to save football in Cleveland when he trades for the number one pick. He must quickly decide what he’s willing to sacrifice in pursuit of perfection as the lines between his personal and professional life become blurred on a life-changing day for a few hundred young men with dreams of playing in the NFL.

DRAFT DAY opens April 11, 2014
