Michael Bay is returning to the world of robotic alien cars next summer with the fourth installment of his insanely popular Transformers franchise that so far has grossed over $2.6 Billion at the worldwide box office. Now, with the release of the new official poster, we know the name of the anticipated sequel. TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION.
Thanks to Yahoo, we also have confirmation of the inclusion of the fan-favorite Dinobots in the upcoming sequel as they reported a quote that producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura gave to the Beijing News:
“I cannot disclose the specifics, but you can be sure that the joining of the Dinobots will give the audience new excitement. In addition to Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, the appearance of these classic roles changed, today the world’s coolest, most exciting cars will appear in the film, including China’s vehicles, whether you are a car enthusiast, you will feast your eyes and be shocked by them.”
They do point out that the weirdly worded quote is probably due to a shaky translation. I think we all get the jist though. Dinobots. Remodels. Pretty Cars.
Also, in case you have missed it, straight from Michael Bay’s own website, is several pictures of the new vehicles for the movie including a redesigned Optimus Prime, two versions of Bumblebee and even the fan favorite Hound. While many of them have not been identified, it is fun to speculate who they might be.
TRANSFORMER: AGE OF EXTINCTION is directed by Michael Bay and stars Mark Wahlberg, Jack Reynor, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, Li Bingbing, T.J. Miller, Han Geng and Titus Welliver.
SYNOPSIS: Not Yet Released.
TRANSFORMER: AGE OF EXTINCTION is set to hit 2D and IMAX theaters on June 27, 2014.

I skipped the last two sequels, mostly because the first was passable at best. I’m not a huge fan of Michael Bay, and a huge part of my inner geek really wants this current franchise to curl up and die already.
