THE WOLVERINE gets a new UK trailer and first UK TV spot

It’s been an interesting year for comic book movies. We’ve seen IRON MAN finish its trilogy, MAN OF STEEL reboots the Superman mythos this week, and this summer Hugh Jackman returns to the role that made him famous in THE WOLVERINE (based on the original Wolverine mini-series from Marvel Comics by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller). Set in Japan, Logan (Jackman) finds himself visiting an old friend, and falling in love… and of course having to fight a whole bunch of dudes. The new UK trailer (below) gives us our first solid look at the character of Viper (Svetlana Khodchenkova), and seems a little heavier on the mutant action than what we’ve seen before. James Mangold (WALK THE LINE, 3:10 TO YUMA) directs the action, which is a little more classy-looking here than in the last trailer. Still curious to see if the Silver Samurai is a robot, as that’s what it looks like in these trailers. Take a look for yourself and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), the most iconic character of the X-Men universe, to modern-day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world, he will face a host of unexpected and deadly opponents in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality. Story by Christopher McQuarrie.

And here’s the first UK TV spot:
