Twitter is a wonderful thing… I suppose.  Many celebrities, behind-the-scenes Hollywood types, and comic book creators have taken to it big time, and every now and then they will drop some juicy info on upcoming projects.  Now it should be noted that SHERLOCK HOLMES actor Mark Strong, who has been kind of the flavor of the month lately, had already been rumored to be in the running for playing the villainous Sinestro in the GREEN LANTERN, and we already know that Ryan Reynolds is playing Hal Jordan, with Martin Campbell directing.  Well now the popular comic writer Geoff Johns has dropped some solid confirmation via Twitter that Mark Strong is indeed playing that part.  Here’s what he wrote:

“Back from an amazing trip to Green Lantern town a.k.a. New Orleans!! Ryan IS Hal. And Mark Strong is going to be a brilliant Sinestro.”

…and followed that up immediately with:

“Kilowog, the Guardians, Oa…all breathtaking. The age of Green Lantern is upon us!!”

So there you go, straight from the guy that would know.  We’ll keep you posted on GREEN LANTERN movie info, and hopefully we’ll be seeing some images soon.  We’d also like to congratulate Geoff Johns on being named Chief Creative Officer for DC Entertainment – a well-deserved position!
