Joss Whedon & Morgan Spurlock to make San Diego Comic-Con documentary

.

.

What happens when you take a geek God like Joss Whedon (BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER and FIREFLY creator) and a documentary mastermind like Morgan Spurlock (SUPER SIZE ME), and have them set their sights on San Diego Comic-Con, the biggest nerd gathering in the world held once a year?  We may yet find out.  Eonline reports that the two men may be teaming up to produce a documentary about select individuals going to the big show, and the events leading up to their arrival there. Neither Whedon or Spurlock have officially commented on this, but a source indicates it’s happening.

“They want to follow people for about three months leading up to this year’s Comic-Con,” the source said. “And then they want to film them there. They’re looking at all types of people.”

So there’s a chance we’ll see a talent search of sorts for the ultimate geeks. Are you geek enough? Eonline noted that Spurlock has already had a presence at Comic-Con last year, scouting for hardcore fans of THE SIMPSONS, for a 20th Anniversary documentary of the popular Matt Groening series.  And of course Whedon has seen his share of San Diego Comic-Con craziness through the years.

I’m intrigued by the idea of this, though talk about a tough choice in narrowing it down! This year will be my 16th year in a row to attend Comic-Con in San Diego. I’ve seen and met ALL different types of fans, and experienced just about everything there is to experience there… hmmmm… maybe they should follow ME! We’ll keep an eye on this story and let you know if anything new develops.
