Walt Disney Pictures’ THE LONE RANGER has had a lot of controversy surrounding it, either through its reportedly enormous budget, or even the more recent report of a crew member dying during production. The project is a strange one regardless, with Johnny Depp playing “Tonto”, and Armie Hammer (still fairly unproven as a leading man) taking on the mantle of John Reid aka “The Lone Ranger.” We’ve seen a few photos here and there, but much of the film has remained a mystery to moviegoers… until today. We now get a look at both the official poster (first one anyway) and teaser trailer for the film, which is still almost a year away. Check out the poster above and trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments. I do love westerns, so I’m holding out hope this will be a fun ride. Depp looks interesting enough, but like many I’m still not sure about Hammer playing the famous masked rider. Gore Verbinski is at the helm, re-teaming with his PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN star Depp and producing buddy Jerry Bruckheimer. I guess we’ll find out if lightning strikes twice for these guys next July.
