HD Theatrical trailer for Steven Spielberg’s LINCOLN starring Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln

We’re definitely looking forward to director Steven Spielberg’s LINCOLN, which features Daniel Day-Lewis as the famous American President, but so far we’ve just seen amazing images from the film. Today the studio(s) have released the first official trailer, which (like everything else we’ve seen) is quite impressive. That is in fact Daniel Day-Lewis as Abe. This ain’t no ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER, but an obviously realistic take on the noted figure. LINCOLN co-stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt (as Robert Todd Lincoln), Tommy Lee Jones (as Thaddeus Stevens), Jackie Earle Haley (as Alexander Stephens), Jared Harris (as Ulysses S. Grant), and Sally Field (as Mary Todd Lincoln). David Strathairn, Lee Pace, James Spader, John Hawkes, Walton Goggins and Michael Stuhlbarg are also featured. What a cast! Check out the theatrical trailer below and tell us your thoughts in the comments.

“Lincoln” focuses on the last four months of the president’s life and the political strategizing he undertook at the close of the Civil War to ensure that slavery would be forever outlawed. “Our movie is really about a working leader who must make tough decisions and get things done in the face of overwhelming opposition,” Spielberg says.

“Lincoln” is a DreamWorks, Twentieth Century Fox, Participant Media production opening in limited release November 9, expanding November 16, 2012.
