SXSW 2012: Video Interviews – IRON SKY’s Timo Vuorensola, Tero Kaukomaa, Julia Dietze and Stephanie Paul – plus watch the first 4 minutes, and enter to win a signed press book!

One of my most-anticipated films at this year’s South by Southwest Film Festival was IRON SKY – which we’ve previewed on the site ahead of time. The story, set not far in the future, involves Nazis with a secret base on the dark side of the moon, who have decided to return to earth and carry out their master plan. Don’t worry, it’s very much a comedy. My full review is coming soon – I really want to take my time with writing it.

While at SXSW, I had a chance to sit down with director Timo Vuorensola and producer Tero Kaukomaa (in the first half of the video), and stars Julia Dietze and Stephanie Paul (in the second half). We talked in depth about putting together the Finnish production, their experience opening at the Berlin Film Festival (where it premiered) and coming to the 2012 South by Southwest Film Festival, plus their inspirations and experiences making the movie. I knew this was a rare opportunity, so I’m very excited we got a chance to chat. Check out the interview below, followed by the opening 4 minutes of the movie.  My thanks to the intrepid Ric Mulligan for shooting this.

And as promised, we’re giving away a few signed press books (these are SO very nice) autographed by all four of the interview subjects above. To enter just send us an e-mail and tell us what your favorite movie featuring Nazis is, and your favorite space movie, and tell us why on both – but there’s a catch! Neither answer can be STAR WARS or INDIANA JONES, we won’t accept those. Think hard on this. There’s a lot of movies with Nazi storylines, and definitely a lot of Sci-Fi films, so think of some good ones. Contest is open to U.S. residents only – sorry to everyone overseas, but this would be rather expensive to ship outside of the U.S. area.

While you’re thinking hard on which movies to note, watch the first four minutes of IRON SKY now, and stay tuned on info where you can see it in your area. The IMDB page currently lists an opening date of April 4 (which we assume is the limited release date for U.S. theaters).
