SXSW 2012: Video interview – Matthew McConaughey, Gina Gershon, Emile Hirsch & Tracy Letts – KILLER JOE red carpet

We’re re-posting this article (originally posted in March of 2012) to promote the release of KILLER JOE on DVD and Blu-ray December 21, 2012.

Yes, we’re still processing video from the 2012 South by Southwest Film Festival, but as I’ve mentioned before one thing that was a delight this year was the exciting red carpet premieres filled with an eclectic mix of talent. SXSW has always had great red carpets in the past, but this year seemed exceptionally smooth, thanks primarily to the tireless efforts of Rebecca Feferman, Emily Shaw, Lauren Tuttle, and April Henshaw, who made sure we were front and center for some of the more exciting premieres. One of our first night red carpets was the premiere of writer Tracy Letts’ play-to-film KILLER JOE, a long-gestating journey for the talented writer. The story ran as a play for many years, and the film is nothing if not controversial, even receiving an NC-17, perhaps for one particular scene that’s rather… memorable. Here’s the promotional poster for the film:

Letts walked the carpet with stars Matthew McConaughey, Gina Gershon (amazingly hot in person), and the talented Emile Hirsch. The film is directed by the legendary William Friedkin (THE EXORCIST), who sadly was not in attendance. Check out the interviews below, and look for KILLER JOE to be released soon.

My thanks to the intrepid Ric Mulligan for shooting this… in the rain.

And here’s a clip from KILLER JOE:
