Ridley Scott’s PROMETHEUS gets a new 1-minute IMAX trailer – and continues to blow our minds

Come on, Ridley Scott returning to sci-fi, and within the same (rumored) world as ALIEN? Sign me up for three back-to-back showings, please. What’s that? The cast includes Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, Patrick Wilson, Charlize Theron and Noomi Rapace? Make that four showings. It’s safe to say PROMETHEUS is high on my list of most-anticipated films of 2012, but mainly because this is Scott’s first return to the Science Fiction genre since 1982’s BLADE RUNNER… that’s 30 years ago, folks. There’s a new short-but-sweet IMAX trailer out that shows a lot more stuff, though still leaves lots and lots of questions – like what the hell is that H.R. Giger-looking elephant-esque alien in the recliner?? I seriously can’t wait, this is going to be (for me) the movie to beat this summer, and that’s in a summer also including THE AVENGERS, THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, and MEN IN BLACK 3. Check out the new teaser below and tell us in the comments if you’re equally excited.

SYNOPSIS: Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.

PROMETHEUS is set to hit theaters on June 8, 2012.
