One the hottest young faces in Hollywood right now (and one of the busiest) is Anthony Mackie. After impressing audiences and critics in THE HURT LOCKER, Mackie started turning up in a wide variety of films including NOTORIOUS (as Tupac Shakur), THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU, WHAT’S YOUR NUMBER? and REAL STEEL. His newest movie is Summit Entertainment’s MAN ON A LEDGE, a film that defies the stigma of “a January release” by being highly entertaining and reminiscent of classic cinematic thrillers. Anthony shares the screen with Sam Worthington (AVATAR), Elizabeth Banks (OUR IDIOT BROTHER), Jamie Bell (THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN), Genesis Rodriguez (ENTOURAGE), Edward Burns (27 DRESSES) and Ed Harris. Directed by Asger Leth, MAN ON A LEDGE finds Worthington high above the streets of New York City threatening to jump from the edge of a hotel… his best friend Mike (Mackie) and a beaten down police mediator (Banks) do their best to talk him down, but it’s soon revealed there’s more to this shocking act than meets the eye. Anthony gets to play a rather ambiguous character with his own hidden agenda, and rounds out an impressive cast in a solid thriller. I had the pleasure of sitting down with Mackie during his recent Dallas press tour, and we talked about making MAN ON A LEDGE, and even covered some of his other exciting projects on the horizon. I’m particularly fascinated with his passion project, a Jesse Owens biopic – if you don’t know the name, you should. I also love the way Anthony embraced the Bigfanboy.com name, which you’ll see right at the start. Check out the video below, and go see MAN ON A LEDGE this weekend… and have popcorn, it’s that kind of movie.
MAN ON A LEDGE is now playing everywhere.
